Shell in Milton, PA. End odometer 119,315. Lost the receipt with the notes on the mileage. Reconstructed the mileage from the next fill-up. Then found the receipt on July 3. It just appeared on the floor next to my suitcase. Weird.

We limped 150 miles from Walcott, Iowa, to Brookfield, Illinois, near Chicago, where Hollywood Motors replaced the fuel filters and the air flow meter. On the way out of town, we stopped at a Shell station in Countryside, Illinois. End odometer 118,645.

We made it within 45 miles of Iowa City, but I decided to refuel when the gauge went into the red. The MPG was lower than on the way in to Omaha, probably due to rain, low elevation, and hills in western Iowa. End odometer 118,300.

North Platte, Nebraska, to Omaha, Nebraska. Ran the fuel down almost into the red, trying to get within range of Iowa City without making another stop. We had to stop after all. By the way, thanks for Nebraska DOT for the suggestion on their electronic sign, approaching Omaha, to take I-680 to bypass the city. It worked out great, and we got to go over the Mormon Bridge, the dedication of which my mom attended in 1953. End odo 118,079.

Rock Springs to Laramie, Wyoming, after half an hour in Rock Springs screwing around looking for the gas cap, which flew off from under the windshield wiper a few minutes after getting on I-80. Smooth. End odo 117,516.
