Check your vehicle accuracy.

I've had a vehicle with a particular brand and style of tires that resulted in 10% overestimation of miles driven from fill up to fill up. Currently, I've got a pickup that under accounts for miles consistently versus GPSs 1.8%, while my other two vehicles over account by 2.2 and .5 percent, respectively.
