Fuel Saving Tips

Coast in gear

One or two tips on here about coasting, but they either say to do so out of gear, or don't say. The best way is to stay in gear, but with feet off the pedals. In a modern car, this will usually use less fuel than being out of gear as less fuel will be put into the engine (because the wheels are keeping it turning) than to keep it idling while out of gear. Also, in the UK at least, coasting out of gear is not recommended due to a reduction in control of the car - see rule 122 of the highway code.
