Filled up on return leg of Canberra to Sydney trip, with an average speed of 90 km/h. Tank average speed was about 63 km/h. Trip meter must have reset when I removed the battery for reconditioning. I wondered why I was nearly empty after 725km when the CONS was 4.0l/100km on the HSI. That's because I'd driven 901.

Did I use too much fuel to qualify for a 700 mile tank? I added 4.6 litres of stale 95 RON to my tank from a jerry can. I thought that I would easily reach 1126km. However, I put in 40.57 litres, which would make it a 45.17l tank.

Longest and most efficient tank (by 0.006LHK) so far. Not 1126km (700 miles) as I had hoped. During this tank I had a 90,000km service, a flat battery, several days of another driver (who thinks P&G make shampoo) and used A/C quite a lot. So a 1126km tank is in there somewhere.

43.19L is the most I've ever put into the 45L tank. Another 600 mile tank. Warmer temperatures means only two bars on the lower grill block, but I may remove one more. Filled with BP 91 RON E10.

Canberra to Sydney. Filled up on the way North. Could have driven much further and saved a few cents in Sydney, but safer to have a full tank. Filled with Shell 91 RON

Canberra to Sydney and then Newcastle. Was in a bit of a hurry, so while I stuck to the speed limits, I was charging up hills. Used full lower grill block. Driving was in the cool of night and morning - 10-20°c. Much warmer and the full grill block could have been too much. Filled with BP 91 RON at Pymble.

First 1000km (and 600 mile) tank! Almost certainly improved by warmer weather. Tank of Shell 94 RON E10, so even if there was a slight penalty from the ethanol it wasn't obvious. This did include several drives by my wife, who is no eco-driver by any stretch of the imagination.

Warmer weather seems to have improved FC. Lower grill blocked for the last 150km, seems to have benefit; if only to keep coolant from chilling when the engine isn't running. Decided to fill up on Shell E10 94 RON.

Mostly a Canberra to Sydney return trip with an extra lap of Sydney driving in heavy traffic. Generally warm weather, but a very strong cross wind. Finally cracked 4.5l/100km on a tank.

Bad result! Canberra to Sydney drive on a very cold, very foggy morning and cold evening return. Used A/C and rear/mirror defogger quite a lot on the whole trip. Also had flattening rear tyre. Expect better results with the two new Bridgestone ecopia PZ-X tyres on the front.

Caltex Vortex 95. Right rear tyre has a puncture and a slow leak. Will be buying 2 new Bridgestone ecopia tyres for the front since the Ovation Eco Vision VI-682 are woeful. 12 volt Battery was changed at 70882km on 03/03/2012. Old battery had a dead cell, which may had contributed to the engine working harder. FC improves from this point.
