Dec 7 2010

Semi-regular commute. Does diesel evaporate? Big drop in MPG. May need to check tire pressure and the cold snap definitely has a hand in low mpg.

All the usual. First full tank on the GDE TCM. Not as big of an improvement as I was hoping. I suspect that my brake issue may be with the front tires vs. the emergency brake as I'd originally thought.

Oct 23 2010

FINALLY added my Transmission Control Unit, for better cruise RPMs. Only mods left: Glass-pack exhaust, new torque converter, and possible upgrade to GDE HOT tune, vs the existing GDE ECO tune. Regular commute, with TCU added at the half-tank point. Was going to be a below average tank. BP @ NK. Added a new air-filter, too.

Aug 27 2010

Ok, last night I finished replacing and repairing the emergency brake hardware. Today, the CRD seems to accelerate smoother. My girlfriend noticed it as well. This may have been the cause of my lower mileage. Refueled today (and got the first car wash...after 5 months of ownership). Shell station, bigger down angle than usual station, so additional fuel may have been added. Changed oil to Rotella T-6 Synthetic 0W-40.

Using LOTS of A/C, most of the time. Getting stuck in tourist traffic. Filled up at NKBP, but at different pump, putting the vehicle at a steeper angle. May have filled extra fuel. Will make a point to fill at same pump on next take to test theory. Hey, if it' tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?

Highway trip to Lake George NY and back. Carried a large object on the roof the whole way (screwed up aerodynamics) through mountains and ran A/C the entire time. Sat parked idle for about an hour, too. Fueled up regular NK BO station. Oh, and best tank so far!
