While riding to Sandia Crest, the clutch got softer and softer and eventually stopped working about halfway up to the top. I got it to work well enough to limp back down the mountain by pumping it repeatedly, and by Cedar Crest it was back to normal. The Internet suggests this was due to high water content in the clutch fluid, air in the lines, or both. Altitude definitely made it a lot worse. I flushed the lines, cleaned the inside of the master cylinder, and refilled and bled the clutch with new (unopened) Prestone DOT4 synthetic.
