Had to make several WOT runs for datalogging. Now running a Hemifever custom tune. Continuing to use 89 Octane per his recommendation. Temps have been fluctuating between 70s and low 30s, but mileage has improved regardless.

Had to let the Ram warm-up to defrost the windshield and obvious cold weather. I have switched over to 89 as of this tank due to my regularly filling up the tank at only a little under half-full. Thinking my octane might not be where it should. Diablosport 87 Performance tune installed.

Tires were between 35 to 38 PSI depending on temp. They are now 40 PSI at a temp of 65 F. Still using 87 octane (Ethanol-free), but will switch to 89 if the cold weather is making mileage go south. Also, I checked the oil catch can and found what appeared to be mix of water and oil. This is most disturbing, but I'm convinced that this is due to the fact my truck is left outside versus my Charger that was garage-kept with the culprit being condensation.

Lots of cold weather and the tires have been hanging around 36-38 PSI. Going to inflate the tires back to 40 or so PSI in the morning at the coldest part of the day to ensure that is my true cold tire PSI and see if mileage improves.

Nov 11 2012

Cold snap came through and was trying to keep my tires closer to the recommended 35 psi. They usually stayed between 36 and 38 due to temp changes. Also had to idle more while the truck's windshield defrosted.

Oct 29 2012

Temps began to drop due to Fall. Also, I lowered the psi I keep in my tires closer to see if mileage improves. A friend swears that the best MPG is achieved at the OEM recommended psi of 35 while I had been running at 41 psi. Now I'm running around 37 to 39 psi depending on temps. We'll see how she is doing next tank.

Trying a method suggested on here: getting the vehicle up to speed quickly from a stop, but going no further than 2500 RPM in any given gear, then leveling off quickly to cruise. So far so good. Hoping to increase mileage even further by perfecting the technique. Might try running a higher grade of gas being that I'm still running 87 which is acceptable, though 89 is recommended. Not messing with more than one variable at a time.

Temperatures were changing constantly and I believe the engine is still trying to compensate for additional airflow from modification to air box. Truck also had it's first oil change and is now using synthetic 5w20 motor oil.

Modified the factory Air Box by using a 4" hole saw to bore out a single 4" hole on it's underside.

Lots of A/C. Wife had brain surgery and it's just been friggin' hot lately so the A/C has been cranked up. Truck also sat for several days while we were at the hospital. Not sure if that had any effect on things aside from the A/C which is usually off.

Was not able to fill up tank on last fill up due to cut off at $75. This resulted in what appeared to be a sharp decline in gas mileage, but the truck was still running fine. Also, last fill up was on 89. This time I was totally able to fill up on 87 octane. To correct for the error, I added an even 20 miles to the miles since last fuel-up (353.4) so as to prevent the data from severely skewing overall stats.

First fuel up. Hoping that with the ethanol-free fuel and going up to the recommended 89 octane I'll see better mileage. The truck is still getting worn in and I plan on swapping to synthetic motor oil come 3000 miles. A Billet Technology oil catch can is also on the way.
