Friday mounted up the new Nitto Motivo's on the 17" Fuchs. The fronts bottomed out on the brake calipers so had to ad the 10mm spacers. Had a vibration at 70-80mph so today took the car in for a re-balance. Success! I have a email in to Mr.Fiat re. the front wheels but have not heard back yet. I think they are for a 964/993, not the 996/997. My mistake and I doubt they will help me. Can't say I'd blame them! I do like the tires and it does seem more comfortable and less jarring over rough roads. The trouble with the 10mm spacers is that now the tires stick out 10mm beyond the fenders. Still, the set-up is good.

Average of trip to Montana: 27.4 mpg. Very good! 80 mph all the way. But no city driving to speak of.

Changed the oil and filter today. The oil looked clean, the filter had no bits or metal. Drained 6 qts out, put 6 qts. in. EvoSyn 0w-40 plus 12 oz. Camguard. Ordered some Cerratec today and will add that this week. Sent sample to Blackstone to see how the EvoSyn is doing. Looking for lower lead values. Edit: I drained out the filter 2X for a total of 32oz. oil. then added 2X bottles of CeraTec for a total of 20 oz. So, my total fluids added for this oil change are: 6qts + 12oz Camguard - 32oz oil + 20oz. CeraTec = exactly 6 qts. The level shows at the 2nd line down on the OBD display or one space empty. Right where I want it. But, is this accurate??? I ordered a new level sensor and a new filler pipe as mine is cracked.

Okay, inner and outer tie rods all replaced. Also R&R'd all control arms and the sway bar links on each front corner. The sway bar bushings looked just fine so left those in. No more creaking and the car still seems nice and straight so I doubt anything was compromised in the alignment. After the tie rods, had to go back in and give the right side one more turn. Perfect after!

I also replaced the blown woofer in the door w/ new Alpine 6.5" speaker in place of the 8" (7.5?) that came with the car. It sounds good. Had to modify the install w/ clips I made. The latch install was a brutal job made doable on the UK911.com site. Jonttt did an awesome write up. I could not get the new Vemo (RA) latch electric socket to "click" when plugged in, so if I lose electrics, that's why! A 3 hour job took me 3 days stopping and starting. Very frustrating but very satisfying to have done it. Saved thousands!

The automatic window lowering feature was not working after I lubed the drivers side door latch. Driver courtesy lights were not working either when the door was open. Door open, no lights and window would go up meaning I had to either keep handle "open" or window down a bit when closing the door. Internet says: "bad door latch". So, R&R'd the latch and all is now well.

Changed the oil today at 70k. Put in Liqui Moly 5w50 and will see how that goes. Did not add the Camguard this time. Drained out exactly 9 qts. The car didn't use a drop in 5800 miles. I put in 8 qts. so that level wouldn't go to full. Will check it after a few drive cycles and add if needed. Car runs great, mpg's are good.
