Showing a single fuel-up

Aug 14 2018

The car this week started to idle rough going into Meijer and to walk the dog. I topped off the gas and went straight home to add Dry Gas and STP injector cleaner. I didn't know the reason why but the only thing that had changed was that I'd washed the car and cleaned the battery terminal. It was a sponge bath in the garage so water in the system seems unlikely but maybe when they battery was disconnected it reset the computer controller to the engine. I am adding this note 8-16-18 and the car has been running so much better just hope it's not temporary. This trip was around town and I wasn't in a hurry so it reflects it. It may also be askew as I added the Dry Gas and Injector Cleaner with the last tank. Surprising though usually it is lower after adding the additives. I am going to look into replacing fuel filter on car. The car I've had over a month now and have been cleaning it up. Wash with dish soap and water, then clay cleaner treatment, and finished with a good waxing, 2 coats. I have been trying to get it cleaned thoroughly, so under the hood replace air filter twice one dry / paper followed by Auto Zone comparable air/oil filter like K and N do and scrub all the dirt and grime off under hood. There was the maple seed pods in the air chamber enough that had to do it twice because they kept coming in from the tubing duct ahead of filter, and these were all through the engine compartment. the car had sand practically baked on most parts so scrubbed and high pressure sprayed and scrubbed some more to finely get it looking good. The under side of car still has the dirt layer on metal parts, but work on that slowly later most I hope will wear off over time and through continued car washes and bottom blasts. With that in mind I just think there is a good chance that all that fine sand ended up in the fuel lines and filter hopefully not in the engine. Between the exterior and the strong running engine those were the reasons I thought it was a good car. Now I just want to prove it was a good decision. The Vibes are under coated well and the engines are solid or most that I've seen. I plan to do what ever can be done to keep it running as good as it can for as long as it can. I even purchased LED head lights that hopefully will give me the best vision possible to see the deer/ obstacles that might impair/ impede the cars abilities to function.
