Coolant line came loose 9/15, car overheated and cracked the head. New head, gasket, chain tensioner, thermostat, etc. plus an oil change and air filter.

Rear right tire's sidewall was bulging, all were pretty smooth. So! 4 new tires at Les Schwab. 40,000 mile warrantee, rotation every 5,000 miles.

Oil change at Omega. Steve says the rear brake pads are at about 30% and should probably be replaced next oil change.

Leaking diesel under the hood. Took into Omega, where Steve diagnosed holes in the fuel injector lines... fortunately he had stock on hand, and swapped them all out, so yay, fresh lines! Also, dash/console lights were out... Steve replaced the license plate light and they're back! So... who knew that breaking that circuit would break everything.

Steve checked the alternator and declared it to be just fine. He doesn't think a new one would be any improvement, and suspects the AAA guys just aren't quite familiar with this vintage of beast. My AC was down to .3 lbs of refrigerant (capacity is 2#), so Steve topped it up and she's blowing cool again.

Left the lights on overnight, battery was drained. Got a jump from AAA, but died again later in the day. Testing showed battery had lost most of its capacity, and alternator needs servicing/replacement, as it's performing right on the edge of negative.

Omega Motors. Recharged Freon. Compressor switch was only working in defrost, and blowing fuse 10. Steve put a jumper from fuse 5? to another one... maybe the unused seat heater/window defrost 14? Or something. Confusing, but it works.

Odometer rebuilt, oiled and calibrated. Instrument bulbs replaced. Cumulative Fuelly-tracked mileage (from tripmeter) added to frozen odo. total, to make it at least accurate from time of my purchase. $135.00 @ Speedometer Service

Oil change at Mercedes of Portland. Mobil 15W-40. $59. Took 2 hours(!) In future, best to avail oneself of the complimentary shuttle service, which operates in a 10 mile radius. Sufficient for home and office!

Brought the car home from Miller Mechanical this evening. New master cylinder and valve cover, headlights, instrument lights, plate lights, wipers, air filter. Ostensibly she is not only good to go, but needs to go... I am instructed to drive long distances, to cleanse it with the purifying fire of mileage.
