A bit more highway running on this tank. Filled up with non-ethanol premium...not sure why but it does explain the exorbitant cost.

All highway test on I-5 between North Wilsonville and Keizer. Average speed was 57 MPH over four runs totaling two round trips. No A/C.

The car has turned over 5K and it appears the mileage may be turning a corner. This tank was virtually all-city in my normal area of town and is better than normal. We'll see if it continues.

I've been defending the Elantra lately and saying that under the right conditions, 40 MPG is easily achievable. Let this test prove I was wrong. My average speed for the tank was 55 MPH and this is the best it could do. This car cannot and will not get 40 MPG on the highway.

I had the Active Eco assist turned on for the entire tank and pulled my best hypermiling techniques to achieve this. Not bad considering Portland's bad traffic signal timing, rough roads and epic hills.

This was a non-ethanol tank under very similar conditions. Don't think it's enough to warrant the trip to get it, unfortunately.

I filled up at a non-ethanol station that sells 87 octane. It's more expensive than E10 but we'll see if it improves my mileage.

First 25 miles of the tank were all-city and then I hit the highway to test the car's mileage. Even in rolling, hilly terrain, I'm very satisfied with how it performed.

All-city driving with some snowy and icy conditions with slow-going. I put on the snow tires about 50 miles into this tank so it's yet to be seen how they'll affect the mileage.
