On-Board Computer: 40.6 ~ Avg. Temp: 35/40F AM/PM ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: Mostly the same as the last tank, although with a bit more cruise control and heat. I also had one non-commute highway trip that involved lugging some junk around which probably hurt mpg slightly. Price changed to account for small fillup midway through the tank included in mpg calc here.

On-Board Computer: 40.6 ~ Avg. Temp: 40/50F AM/PM ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: Some very cold mornings, but light to no traffic on most trips. Longer work hours mean faster driving than before, and even some cruise control. Cold temps also mean the heater gets used, although not for the whole trip.

On-Board Computer: 43.0 ~ Avg. Temp: 50/60F AM/PM ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: Well, with the under-fill last tank, and an hour plus of traffic the first day of this tank, things took a huge dive. I also took an 80 mile trip at faster than usual speed.

On-Board Computer: 44.9 ~ Avg. Temp: 50/60F AM/PM ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: Definitive proof that the pumps sometimes dictate your mpg. This was not a 50 mpg tank, the temperature was down, I did some extra city driving, there was traffic, and the computer did not show an especially high calculated average. I was surprised when the pump shut off at 7.3 gallons.

On-Board Computer: 46.3 ~ Avg. Temp: 75F ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: No A/C and minimal traffic on this tank. I had the trip computer as high as 48.4 MPG after the first 100 miles or so, but it slowly came back down. Extra starts and stops also hurt this tank.

On-Board Computer: 44.0 ~ Avg. Temp: 85F ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: As with the past two tanks, my car seems to be getting fantastic MPG in the warmer weather. However, if it gets too hot, I need to turn on the A/C. I had it on the lowest setting for 100-150 miles this tank. Also had an extra city trip to the DMV.

On-Board Computer: 45.6 ~ Avg. Temp: 75-80F ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: Gasp! This tank started off strong and kept going. Traffic improved a bit, I assume because school is now on break. The temperature was a bit warmer overall, and I sweated it out (no A/C) a few days. Still, 48.1 MPG is unbelievable. The pump seemed to run normally, so I don't think this one was short-changed. *Updated 7/4/13. According to my credit card bill, I used even less gas than I thought.

On-Board Computer: 42.3 ~ Avg. Temp: 75F ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: Plenty of traffic for this tank. Mornings have gotten better thanks to a slightly altered route, but evenings have been a disaster. This was another one of those fill-ups where the pump was running very slow, and may have shut off earlier.

If anything, I thought the MPG calculation for this tank would be worse just because I did not think I got a full tank last time. I encountered a lot of traffic for this tank, and even made several small extra trip/stops outside my normal commute. Removing the seats must be helping a lot...

On-Board Computer: 43.5 ~ Avg. Temp: 60F ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: I think this reading is on the high side. The pump was going much slower than usual, and was probably low on gas. As a result, the shutoff likely came on early as well. The temperature finally cooperated, but traffic was heavy, adding 10-40 minutes per commute. I did 6 commutes on this tank versus my usual 5.

On-Board Computer: 42.2 ~ Avg. Temp: 45F ~ Station: Global ~ Notes: On 4/20/13 I removed the rear seats, and front passenger seat. I am interested to see how this affects the fuel economy. Traffic is getting worse with the warmer weather, and on top of that there were a few cold days as well. I wish I was getting the MPG the trip computer says!
