Cold weather has hit and I believe it hit the PCM as it was having to adjust for the cooler air with more fuel.

Aug 22 2011

Car went in for service twice and had a few good romps on the accelerator because of the death trap that is the entrance/exit to my Dodge dealership. Once was for a radiator cooling fan recall so the car no doubt had to idle for a while to check coolant level and the second time for a leaking rack and pinion to be replaced with a good one. Not expecting great mileage from this one...

Aug 9 2011

Inflated tires to proper PSI and was able to keep AC to a minimum for the most part. Little bits of idling from maintenance no doubt caused a slight decline in mileage. Switched to a Wix 51515 oil filter which holds an extra 1/2 quart of fluid, however, I put 7 quarts in just the same b/c the dipstick still shows to be well over the full mark.

Lots of A/C use thanks to passengers, but then again we've had a few 100+ degree days. For whatever reason, seemed like I was encountering more traffic and have to go faster accordingly. Just did an oil change with a new type of filter to remedy an issue Hemis have that was brought to my attention so we'll see if that makes any difference on the next fill. Plus, I need to check PSI in tires as I haven't done so in about a month.

The car sat for a week in the garage while we were on vacation and I did have to get on it a few times to avoid jacklegs that fly up on you just because they saw you pull out. As always, A/C is only on when the wife is in the car or if I'm going better than 50 MPH. Using just the windows isn't as bad as it seems. I think we've all just gotten too used to A/C.

Starting to master MDS and when and when not to upshift. Very little A/C used, but had to take a small trip with four full-sized adults in the car which I'm sure brought the average down a tad.

Jun 13 2011

Some A/C use due to summer heat. I've been trying to keep the windows rolled down and the A/C off when under 50 MPH per Mythbusters. Also, thanks to a new tune, MDS is much more user friendly for me despite the 6.1 oil pump making it finicky. I believe that this is what is keeping MPG up despite A/C being used a bit. Going to check tires more throughout this new tank to see if 16 MPG is possible! Possibly going to remove the spare tire as well when making short trips around town.

Mar 15 2011

Added stacked spark plug anti-foulers to the rear O2 sensors to correct for increased air flow from high flow catalytic converters at 5/8 of a tank. Noticed immediate improvement with the check engine light off due to no codes being set and no timing getting pulled. Hoping to see even better mileage over the course of this full tank.
