124749km; trip 234km 4h18m 55.1km.h avg 12.3L/100km IND oil at 100% continued experiment with 91 octane no ethanol fuel, however after this fill I got another "EM-RP" check control msg under hard acceleration on Hwy 15 coming home to Kanata from SF (milanos). Power did not actually seem reduced contrary to msg displayed, drove home with no issues with msg displayed, code cleared itself immediately on restart.

Received set of 4 black sapphire metallic comfort access handles from Schmiedman in Denmark last week. Cost of handles was $65 USD included complete harness. Total cost after shipping and duties was $200 CDN. Otto's had claimed swapping known good handles into the two locations that were not functioning resolved the problems, and verified vehicle electronics were OK. Pass side rear handle swapped with replacement with complete success. Leaves me one spare tested functional handle for Pass side, but has a small scratch in the paint that might buff out. On Drivers side front door, handle was taped to harness, harness disconnected, discovered broken pin in connector of vehicle harness. Otto's COULD NOT have tested a known good handle in this location. Raised the issue with David Young, service manager at Otto's. Brought vehicle in, David involved another person whose name I didn't get. He spent more time deflecting and defending than actually listening. I was not seeking any compensation, just awareness and future confidence in tech diagnoses. Came away unsatisfied. Will splice in connector from used harness. See additional info in invoices and pictures.

124514km; trip 552km 13h43m 40.7km/h avg 13.9L/100km IND 2 milanos shifts topped up oil again 1L due to heavy use of AC last 2 days and much more than normal idling time. Trying 91 Octane Premium without ethanol, since after last fill at CT I got a "Engine Malfunction - Reduced Engine Performance" control check msg while accelerating off the 416 to go up the hill to Kanata. Was a single occurrence, power did not actually seem to be reduced, suspect a knock or misfire due to gas octane/water in gas/ethanol.

122500 km - Rear air bags replaced due to "Level Control System Malfunction" message. Not covered by extended warranty. Dealer quote was ~ 2500 (3 hrs labor + 749/bag + tax). I bought 2 bags with lifetime warranty for $182 and did the R&R myself in EXACTLY 1 hour for $30 DIY shop charge for hoist use. During diagnosis shop discovered leaky rear pinion seal which WAS covered by warranty - rear seal replaced and differential refilled with new OEM fluid. Had shop investigate / diagnose Comfort access handles at this time - shop quoted for 2 handles at $465 + tax each. Ordered complete used set from Denmark (Schmiedman). See future note for update...

HPFP failure generated code P0087 & P15DF; Otto's diagnosed Bank 1 HPFP, extended warranty covered repair with aftermarket Bosch pump from Hosie & Brown; $1762 total bill, $250 deductible. Previous owner had replaced Bank 2 HPFP earlier 1L oil added while getting gas, in response to iDrive notification of reduced level. Research into above average consumption shows this to ne common on N63 B4400 engine, in my experience its worse during very aggressive driving and slower when "normal"; BMW spec is 0.7 L / 1000 km!!!
