Fuel control module was dying: attempt to drive to Arizona found it burning out more frequently: I got to Barstow with two deaths, and three more to get back to mom's. Dream Car Repair is about the only one that services BMWs in the High-Desert. The new part cost ~$390 [I should/could have bought it on my own when it first died a month ago!]. Needed it programmed too, but they would not do it because it takes hours and they need to close. So I couldn't get it done before the weekend, and had to borrow mom's car [both to get to Arizona and to get home]. Then it still wasn't ready when mom was trying to get it taken care of because then it needed a new battery [another $200+] and programming, which again did not et done before the end of the weekend, so I had to wait another week... Returned two weeks later to get my car, it sounds like it is all done. Worked okay to get home, no more problems, but I have to clear the service reminders for oil, wheel rotate, and general service. Probably spent over $1100 on it all.

Front right tire gave a TPMS warning on the way to work [Petaluma} this am--not the usual cold tire when I come out but halfway to Sonoma. When I went to go get lunch, it was flat; I drove to the corner gas station and put air in, and the sidewall was rubbed. After coming out of Lucky's I could hear the air leaking--found a screw embedded. Went down to Big O Tires and they repaired it in about 40 minutes! 110,871odo $34.99

Repair performed at BMW Fremont on the oil leak identified a few weeks ago, under SULEV CA 15yr/150K warranty for emissions-related issues. Valve cover gasket failed; was replaced Also replaced all coils and spark plugs [I had just done the plugs!] Tires, battery, brakes all OK [I'm still wowed at the battery--not replaced since I got it!] ODO in: 105848; ODO out: 105849

Took it to BMW Fremont service to check what I thought was fuel leaking and known oil leak... they were going to charge a $229 inspection fee but ended up waiving it, not found. [even if found, all this should be covered by the SULEV 15yr/150K mi warranty in CA]. Waited for a long time but I think they forgot to shuttle me home; just as well, I ate at Kinder's and then walked back to find it was almost ready. Will schedule a service for the oil gasket so that I can get a loaner car. While there they also completed three recalls that were pending: blower motor wiring; PCV heater, and the driver airbag [new!]

9/26--oil change, power steering change, coolant flush [was supposed to only take 5 hrs at most... dropped off at 7a, but by 5p it wasn't ready [only 2/3], courtesy shuttle picked me up and got a car by 6p or so, only 80% couldn't get it Saturday since I got off in SF at 5p; and service not open on Sunday, so had to wait until Monday, after work at 6p; late pickup at 7ish... Was able to get the oil gasket leak covered by CPO warranty, so just the fluid changes cost me about $500. dashcam showed a few weird things, like no one had seen one, mechanic thought it was on while he was working... they sent the car through a wash...
