Drove from a walk with ARA and Cooper in Estes Park back home. Then swapped injectors and did a valve adjust before tuning for 250 miles, quite a bit in boost and fairly rich. Running more consistent than ever!

Mar 4 2018

Drove the car on a mountain drive up Squaw Pass Road. Drove to Morrison and then up the mountain. It turned out that the baro correction wasn't set up right so I had a very rich mixture while driving up the mountain. Upon reset coming down the mixture got leaner and leaner as I went down in elevation. So I ended up resetting the car as we approached Denver and driving it to Grandma's for an afternoon dinner. Raced Tim's X5 and it was faster than my car by a couple car lengths to 65. On the drive home it was colder out and the mixture seemed even more exaggerated rich. Car sat with a few drives and test runs in the neighborhood. Then drove to Lyons and filled up when fuel light came on-- had been driving with new baro and MAT corrections along with new battery dwell. VE map changed significantly.

Drove car like 4 miles with engine blowing smoke. Ended up being blown headgasket. Got engine apart and rebuilt the head and started driving it for initial tuning. A lot of boosting with new manifold and intercooler trying to tune megasquirt.

Aug 2 2017

Drove the car around for tuning but it got more and more stuttery I think because of spark plugs a range too cold.. Just changed spark plugs which seemed to help but now all of the sudden it started oil smoking. Will have to look at it again soon.

Jun 18 2017

Drove to and from work a few days while working on tuning of MS2 -- MAT correction and AFR's in varying temp conditions. A fair amount of boost and accelration but also quite a bit of city driving. Fairly happy with the MPG's I think.

Oct 7 2016

Drove to work and back along with some neighborhood trips to test out and mess with the MS2. I did this all work to and from work. In colder temperatures the car runs more rich and EGO control has to intervene more. A lot of testing, this was 87oct but I filled up with 91 in prep for the lapping day in another week...

Oct 2 2016

Full tank of 85octane and new MS2 uniut. A lot of idling and tuning with short pulls and acceleration. Had a lot of pinging so I removed timing and tried to dial in the ve table but still having to dial it in. Overall car is running well and picked up better response on the low end before boost.Still haven't been able to boost through the gear due to pinging. Just changed spark plugs as well but pinging remains. I want to totally dial it out with 87 oct so it is safe as a DD. Probably 20mpg but just didn't fill up all the way.

Aug 20 2016

Drove from Collbran past Grand Junction around to Vail and Eagle for quick stops on the way back From D4C. Also up and down passes. About the best mileage I could get with RRFPR and hills. Did hit a major rainstorm the mountains which slowed up down and reduced mileage.

Aug 16 2016

Drove from Pagosa Spring sup and over the Million Dollar highway to Ouray. The town was neat and the views and passes were great. Not what I expected! Not a very spirited road though. Then drove to Cedaredge to stay the night before heading up Grand Mesa to see Land's End. It was pretty scenic and neat, but the road up was sweet with open sweeping curves with no traffic and Aspen Trees all over. Was 10 miles of gravel roads both ways before heading down. The downhill was great as the area was lush green and a descent 3% grade for a long while. Turned off toward Colbran, but ended up finding a deserted dirt road and so we turned around. Probably could have made Silt, CO, but glad we didn't and we turned around to refill in Colbran. The De Buque cut off was scenic and fun and reminded me of Cars the movie. Should have gone that way first...

Drove from Salida to Pagosa Springs and then up the pass 2 more times and around town. Boosted a fair amount obviously and had no problem keeping up and catching E39 M5's. though a got a rock through the passenger headlight and somebody reset my odometer, it was fine. May be off by 10 miles, I don't know. I also idled through a pea/marble sized hail storm atop WCP.

Drove to meet Rhett and up to his cabin at 9000 ft near Coal Creek Canyon. Then drove to work a few times before changing front control arm bushings (pressing them out at work) and putting on PFC Z rated pads in the rear in anticipation of Pueblo tack day. Track was flooded and cancelled but still drove to Colorado Springs and Teds. Filled up with 88 oct.

Apr 11 2016

Drove to the race track (HPR) for emich track day with new suspension setup and new turbo. Car ran very well, although slightly richer than I wanted due to the cool temperatures and larger injectors. May go with 2.5fpr going forward, but didn't swap it for the day. Added 5g fuel from spare jug, and used 93 octane. Boost limited to 8 psi for the moment. About 125 miles on the track, 125 on the way to/from.

Drove to work and back. then changed the turbo(~154k) and did some tuning/adjusting before taking the car to an exhaust shop. Right now running slightly rich in the cold temps. Might try 2.5bar fpr or see how it performs as-is in warmer temps

Feb 7 2016

Drove to work a day or two, and then to the County Clerk for marriage license and then the car sat. Then drove down to Ken H's house for some business detail and discussions. Car ran well and I filled up before heading down to watch the super bowl at grandma's house. 87 fuel, but I think I heard some pinging when on the highway on ramp at 10psi. With gas prices this low, I should just buy full premium.

Drove a short trip to work and then tore apart the car to get the rear subframe welded up. Got it fixed and then drove the car all week to work. Cool rainy weather, but I drove it every day. This weather made good power! 19mpg seemed pretty good for how much I was hitting it!

Sep 30 2015

Drove to Fort Collins to meet Derek and Jaclyn. First really highway driving, used the new Walbro pump. It can keep up with the higher demands although under boost it is still slightly rich. Also drove to Mt Falcon park in Morrison and maybe to work a couple days. Still have to fix the subframe issue. OBC showed 27.4 MPG, but it was actually 22 or so. At it's best, it seems this reading may be 4-5mpg optimistic due to the added fuel consumption.

Drove to the BMW meet in Ken Caryl and up Indian Hills and Turkey Creek Canyon loop for some aggressive driving, but nothing too extra crazy. Then drove around to BJ's for lunch. Picked up Mikko and drove him home before going back to Petsmart and then a few days for work. Drove to down to Parker and back up before filling up. Surprised with the mileage-- the tank may not have been full, but fuel light came on and I drove easy for 50 miles home.
